I had an uneventful flight from Chicago to Portland on United. It left on time and arrived on time. I got a good nap in during the flight.

There is construction at the Portland airport which makes getting around more confusing. I got confused getting to the meeting point for Lyft. Fortunately the driver was patient. It was an, enjoyable interesting drive. He comes from Liberty Texas. It’sin a dry county. Buying anything stronger than beer us illegal. It’s also illegal to drive with stronger liquor not in the trunk.

The embassy suites us perfectly located. The heat in the room did not work. Was kind of cold but I slept well.

I did a ride on the light rail and boarded the Empire Builder. We departed on time.

The we were delayed 1 hour over night. This allowed a day light arrival at Whitefish. And some great scenery in the Rockies. The train is not crowded. Most roomettes in the 2830 car are empty. A couple of bedrooms are occupied. One entire Portland coach is empty. The line Seattle coach is full.
