49 service disruption 4/11/17

Amtrak 49 encountered a service disruption just past Erie, PA. Appears to be (from word of mouth) an issue with a coach car that had to be dropped. Estimated around 3 hours late as of 7:03 AM EST.

That is a bummer. But better having to move into other sleeper or even into a coach than risk a derailment.

Agreed. Awkward hour for something like that to go wrong. But better safe than sorry.

They did not put a new sleeper on in Chicago. Just now (50 minutes before departure) informing the sleeping pax of this.

They are making them ride in coach, giving them dining car privileges, and refunding their trip.

I've made this same trip a few times, it sucks when this happens!

No reasonable person would expect Amtrak to have replacement hardware ready and waiting at a tiny remote outpost like Chicago.
