Advocacy for Amtrak Dining Car service

The next funding bill for Amtrak must require Dining Cars on all long distance routes! Also no lowest bidder for food service items, all bids to be based on Quality. Well paid Chefs who have back ups so the public can always be assured of a pleasant experience riding and dining on Amtrak. Let's write our congressman now.

Probably because it isn't official yet. Just because OBS is telling you that doesn't mean it's official.

... or anything will actually happen on that date. Wait till it is either officially announced or actually happens before taking it to the bank.

It probably does mean that's what they are working towards, which is certainly good news if not cast in stone.

Now with the 2023 budget a done deal for all intents and purposes let’s see if Gardner and company make an issue out of getting slightly less money than they say they needed to run the network. (Still a record appropriation) Lets hope they don’t use it as fodder for keeping flexible dining in place longer.
As RPA said in yesterdays hotline, thankfully it’s still included in the 2023 budget Amtrak can’t reduce long distance routes. It may not bode well for food and amenity enhancements under this managements thinking however. Time will tell.
