Enjoying perusing a large format photo book of the above title, published in 1988.

A map shows the Amtrak network at that time, and I notice the Broadway Limited, the Pioneer, and the Desert Wind have all ceased since then.

One puzzle for me is that the Sunset Limited is shown only from Los Angeles to New Orleans? It was running through to Orlando pre Katrina. Is the map in the book wrong, or did the "extension" through to Orlando happen after 1988?
 
Here are timetables for the Sunset Limited just before and just after the hurricane (Katrina) that caused the elimination of the New Orleans to Orlando portion of its route:

It is a real laugh that they list "Lake City (Gainesville)" as a stop.

Here is a look at what was the Amtrak "station" for Lake City

As can be seen on the map below, this is nowhere near Gainesville

In fact, the Amtrak Station in Waldo (marked by the red circle) is much closer to Gainesville and is an actual building

However, Amtrak does not travel either route anymore.
