I noticed you said you found "low bucket" prices on some fares. Is there a trick, or some way to find these cheaper fares that I dont know about? If there is I wish, I could find one for my wife and my trip this coming October from CHI to LAX in a bedroom on the 3 SW Chief. The price has been stuck at $2118 for months now.
Bedrooms are harder to get at a lower bucket due to the lower inventory of rooms. 6 months out, it is very hard to find a low-bucket bedroom (relatively speaking). If there is still lots of inventory available about 4-5 months out, they might drop it into a lower bucket on a given date. Even then, the inventory depends by DAY, so make sure to check multiple dates if possible.
The other option is you can book it now @ high bucket and if you check regularly and see that the price dropped, you can get a refund for the difference.
