Amtrak now buying virtual ads on hockey telecasts

NESN in Boston displays virtual ads on the ice and look what showed up tonight

In the past I have also seen Amtrak virtual ads on NESN Red Sox broadcasts, usually displayed behind home plate.

They've been advertising like that here in DC forever at all of the sporting things. Nothing new...

I've seen Amtrak ads at sporting venues in major presence cities for years. What might be different is the addition of "virtual ads" by broadcasters, where the ad is not present at the actual facility, but is added into the picture electronically.

Recently Amtrak has has its logo behind the NHL players in the penalty box in Madison Square Garden, which of course is directly above Penn Station.

Last night the Amtrak logos were also behind the Rangers bench.

Seems like they're concentrating on the NEC.

BTW, I think it's clever how they slightly blur the logo to make it look like it's actually under the ice.
