St. Louis has the Lumière Place Casino within walking distance and the Casino Queen is right across the river in Illinois - just a quick light rail ride away.

Keep in mind Hammond Whiting while directly across from the Horseshoe doesn't currently have any Amtrak service scheduled.

True!
Access to the St. Louis light rail (The Metro) is only a few steps outside the Union Station.
Lumiere Place is best reached via the metro. 5 stops away at the LeCleade's Landing stop.
Casino Queen is 6 stops (Across Mississippi River) away at the River East stop.
I'm not sure either one had a hotel attached, as part of their operations, so don't plan on spending the night there.

I almost said "every station in WA except Seattle", then checked a bit on the map. The options for table games in Bellingham, Everett, Wenatchee, Spokane, and a bunch of other cities are easy drives but farther than you'd like them to be.

Pasco is 20 blocks, at least close to your desired 1-mile distance.

In Montana you'll find lots of video poker within a mile of any train station, but table games are a lot harder to find.

How about Texas Eagle to CHI and then CL to WAS followed by NER to PHL and then NJ Transit Atlantic City Line to Atlantic City?
We'll if you're going suggest that. I'll suggest taking the train to WAS then take the MARC Camden line to Baltimore for the Horseshoe Casino. Technically not the NEC.

Any city that has a cruise terminal not far from the station has cruise ships that have casinos (when they start up again)! That includes Boston, NY, NOL, NJ, Charleston, FTL, Tampa, Miami (and more?)
:)

While that's true enough...although I'm not much of a gambler and I've only been on two cruise ships in my life, on neither one do I remember seeing "real dice craps." They seemed to me to be just a warehouse of slots and video poker machines. You might as well stand around and watch the "action" as you feed dollar bills into a shredder...

In St. Louis the Lumière Place Casino and Hotels is about 2 miles from Gateway Station. Walk out of the station to Civic Center Metrolink station (a 1 to 2 minute walk). Take Metrolink to the Laclede's Landing station and walk maybe 5 minutes to the casino. Or stay on Metrolink for one more stop to the East Riverfront station in Illinois and go to the Casino Queen.
