Apology Email for delay?

I was on train 284 today and it arrived in NYC a little over an hour late, which I didn’t mind since I wasn’t in a rush but around 10 minutes later I got an email from Amtrak apologizing from the delay. Is this new since I never got this email in my history of taking delayed trains?8CFDF250-FDF7-49CB-ACB0-1EA3E2FEF8F5.jpeg
 
A friend of mine received a similar email last week regarding a late train. It appears to be something new since I do not recall receiving such an email in the past and I have been on many late trains.
 
I've never had any apologetic emails either. I've had conductors apologize for delays over the intercom but that's about it. Did the Amtrak app send delay related notifications?
