Timeline for B&O Railroad Museum repairs expected Wednesday
BALTIMORE – Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum officials will hold a news conference on Wednesday to announce a projected timeline for restoration of the iron roof over the museum’s roundhouse, which collapsed under the weight of snow and wind during the Presidents’ Day storm Feb. 17.
The museum announced Friday that it has cancelled this summer's Fair of the Iron Horse 175, Festival of Trains. The event was scheduled to take place in Baltimore June 28 through July 3. The decision came after two weeks of assessing damage to the museum’s roundhouse.
A spokeswoman with the B&O Railroad Museum said it would take up to a year to the repair all of the damage from the roof collapse. The museum’s insurance policy covers the building, but not the collection inside. The museum plans a major fundraising effort to restore the damaged items from its collection.
