California Zephyr late arrivals?

#5 arrived in Denver 11 hours late today, and #6 arrived in Chicago 4-1/2 hours late tonight. Any news of what causing these delays? Even if the weather's bad west of Denver should that affect the Chicago to Denver run?

I looked on Trainorders.com, because I wondered about that too. Apparently a freight derailment in Iowa meant that Amtrak had to detour.

We're leaving on Saturday afternoon from Chicago to Denver. I wonder if the trouble will have been cleared up and we won't be horribly delayed.

Yesterday’s 6 went through the derailment area but was delayed due to freight train interference. Which to me sounded like they had a significant backup due to both mains being out of service. I would think things will be better by tomorrow but an hour or two delay wouldn’t be out of the picture. Today’s 5 and 6 will give you a better idea.
