CTA bus route 156 runs from the new-ish CUS Transit Center to within less than a block of the museum. Route 156 only runs on weekdays, though.

If that works for you, then you'd board at the CUS Transit Center, which is reached from the station by walking through the pedestrian tunnel next to Track 2 and then finding the bus boarding bay for Route 156. It appears that the stop nearest the museum is located on LaSalle just south/west of its intersection with Clark.

Need more info? Need weekend directions instead?

The Clark #22 and Broadway #36 buses also stop pretty much right in front (or at least within a block) from the museum. You'd have to catch them along Dearborn, probably connecting from a 151 Sheridan from CUS, which itself stops a couple of blocks from the museum.

There is a lot of public transit near there, actually. The 72 North Ave bus is another, though not likely as convenient with connections to someone with a walker.
