I've read that the speed limit was raised to

79mph , has this taken effect yet??? Has the

schedules been adjusted?

Actually no the increase has not yet taken effect. :( Additionally there is no time table for when it will be implemented, since in typical Guilford fashion they refuse to accepet the STB's decision.

Guilford is currently apealing the decision and asking the board to reconsider. I've heard nothing on if the board plans to even consider the appeal or not. However as long as it's pending, I can guarentee the Guilford will not allow 79 MPH running. Even if and when the apeal is denied or reconsidered, expect Guilford to drag its feet in allow Amtrak to implement the higher speed. You can find a very brief story at the bottom of this NARP newsletter on this subject.

If Guilford could figure out a way to kick Amtrak off of their tracks, they would do it in a heartbeat.
