Right, the relevance is the power source, but I was under the impression that Northeast Corridor trains are about the only electrified Amtrak trains, and the low clearance tunnels near New York City basically mean that Northeast Corridor trains happen to not use the Superliners.
(The Keystone Service trains operate electrified off of the Northeast Corridor, but because they continue into New York City, they can't use the Superliners either. I think it happens to be the case that every single Amtrak train that uses electric locomotives happens to make a stop at NYP.)
