At least 19 people have been killed and about 40 injured in a head-on train collision in Spain, Miguel Corsini, the chairman of Spain's state railway company Renfe said.
While not really an Amtrak story, this is nonetheless a horrible tragedy on rails. According to the story the engine of the freight train was actually catapulted right over the top of the passenger train. You can read the full story from the BBC by clicking here. The story includes some pictures.

The train was apparently using the same type of Talgo equipment as the Cascades. Obviously, this accident was human error and there is no safety threat for the Talgo trainsets. Very sad none the less.

Even though its not an Amtrak story, as AlenB said, it is still a story, especially if it was a Talgo trainset, that of the same of the Amtrak Cascades, I looked at the report, it looked very bad and very sad. :( :( :(
