Map of transit recovery. For Richmond VA, the article notes three factors for the positive recovery: "ridership skews blue collar" so less work-from-home; redesigned schedules; and free fares. Recently the Richmond Times-Dispatch endorsed free fares in a lead editorial. It's always been OK to disagree with the RTD.

Amtrak-wise, RVR station has completed its rehab inside, and a sort of Transit Oriented Development is opening across the road - anchored by a Sheetz! Big picture, the county in which RVR lies is less resistant to expanding transit. The city and county are independent of each other, but combine on transit. Little picture, the route between the current end of the BRT and RVR is a couple of miles of whooshing pavement, crossing I-64. The RVR platform is still awkward, low-level and a long walk to Business Class. It has more parking than a small airport, all surface. That's convenient for me, but an opportunity to build up some day.
