Last Friday, we took the train from Boston to Orlando, in a bedroom from NY to FL. We had a previous overnight trip in coach and hubby said never again. We enjoyed having our own space and bathroom this time around. South Station was pleasant but NYPenn was not particularly enjoyable. Our car attendant was efficient and personable.

The food service was very slow, seating us about 45 minutes later than the reservation time at dinner.

The breakfast service the next morning was atrocious. We got to the dining car about 7:30 am. We were told to wait in the lounge car. We were finally seated with a couple who already ordered and we watched them eat their breakfast and leave before our order was taken. It was a total of 2 3/4 hours from arriving at the dining car to when we were served breakfast.

So other than the breakfast and slow dinner service, it was a pleasant ride. Thanks for all the tips on traveling by train!

It best to eat breakfast from 5:30 to 7 am time slot. Breakfast on all Amtrak diners is first come first serve.

Not to apologize for the Diner Crew on your Train but the Silver trains use the Old Heritage Dinners (40-60=Years Old) so they don't seat as many Passengers as the Superliner Diners @ a Setting! As was said, the Early Bird gets the Worm @ Breakfast on Trains, there usually is a Waiting List on Most l LD Trains after 7:00AM!

Glad you enjoyed the Trip, PLease call Amtrak Customer Relations(1-800-USA-RAIL/when "Julie " Answers ask for Agent/when the Live agent Ansers ask to be Connected with Customer Relations and and Let them Know about the Poor Service! ) Amtrak takes Customer Complaints Seriously and this Will Help Improve Service for Everyone!

BTW-The New Viewliner Diners are coming Next Year, hopefully ya'll will get to Experience One, Right Now the Prorotype #8400 is in Service on the Lake Shore lLmited and Occasionaly on the Silver Meteor! Big Difference even if the Heritage Diners have Served Honorably All these Years!
