Finally on a Newark-bound NJT train (just going there on my Anderson St to Elizabeth ticket to take PATH back to manhattan with the train already leaving, realize they don't normally check tickets between SEC and NYP but thought I'd be good and follow my ticket) just announced we're delayed because the portal bridge is open. Don't know if the funeral train got through before that.

Just got to Newark. I was stuck waiting for the portal bridge, reviewing my photos. Consist is:

  • AEM7 #928
  • Heritage Baggage Car #1767
  • Amfleet Cafe/Club #48140
  • Amfleet I Bussiness Class #81512
  • Amfleet Office Car "Beach Groove" #10001
10:53pm Edit: At home at my computer going through photos, added the rest of the car numbers.

It did a heck of a job! Fortunately, there since there were passengers on the platforms, the train gave me some warning with a pathetically weak horn. It was also coming down track 2, which must have had a slow order, everything was crawling on it, so I was ready. Shots to come in a little bit.

Here's the video that AmtrakBlue sent me and asked to post:

Thanks to ne52 and SubwayNut for the heads up and tracking info.

Thanks Ryan for editing and posting it for me.

Does this qualify me as a rail fan? :giggle:

Thanks Ryan and Betty for the video.

I finally had a chance to fully write a blog post about my Funeral Train adventures on Wednesday.
Here are some teaser photos:

Edit: Why isn't my second photo showing up?

Here it is.

Great blog entry, thanks for sharing.

Here are my pictures...

Here's the shot I wanted, too bad there's a big ugly train in the way:

Going away (good look at Beech Grove, odd that the spotlights were on):

Senator Lautenberg rides off into the sunset (favorite shot of the night):

These signs were up on the north end - I assume this is why trains were running so slow through here?
