Mix AGR Points + Paid Sleeper = Triple Points?

If I redeem a two-zone coach fare and then pay to upgrade to sleeper, will the trip still earn triple points during this promotion?

Yes, because when you pay to upgrade you're going to pay the difference between the fare you paid ($0) and the fare for the room (rail fare + accommodation charge).

You'll earn 3x points on the backside, but it isn't the best use of points on the front side.

And you'll have to work with AGR manually to get the points; it won't be automatic.

Frankly, it's probably not worth the hassle.

That sort of seems like a waste of an AGR redemption to me.
