The advisory committee from the National Academies that's looking at very long trains (>7,500 ft) had their second meeting on Jan 19-20, and the presentation slides have been posted.

I've only just started looking at some of the materials, it looks like there's some good stuff, input from the unions, input from the railroads and AAR. Probably some good material for discussion here.
