Let's hope he understands the need to do what it takes to restore confidence to shippers that rail service can be reliable and cost effective. With the cost driven approach it certainly isn't now.

From Trains' newswire:

"JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Transportation on Thursday named former Ford Motor Co. executive Joseph R. Hinrichs as its next chief executive officer.

Hinrichs, 55, will succeed CEO Jim Foote, who will retire on Sept. 26. Hinrichs has more than 30 years’ experience in the global automotive, manufacturing, and energy sectors, previously serving as president of Ford’s automotive business."

Apparently he left Ford two years ago. He will certainly have a learning curve. Previous CSX CEO's that have been brought in from outside haven't done well but maybe it's a good thing since he won't have been indoctrinated in PSR.

Let's hope he's not a "Numbers Cruncher " like a previous Ford President, Robert McNamara!( the Godfather of the Vietnam War)
