What an idiot of a judge! There is plenty of caselaw out there that says that judges cannot comment on the evidence, especially comments that could imply the judge's beliefs as to the credibility of a witness. In one such case, a verdict in a sexual assault case was overturned when the judge turned to his bailiff and asked the bailiff to "get a tissue for the victim," who was weeping during her testimony. Since the defense was consent, the appellate court reversed the conviction due to improper commenting on the evidence for calling her the "victim". Any competent judge knows better than to do that kind of thing...
