Hi everyone

I‘m a bit late to the party as only just found this forum but very pleased to have joined and looking forward to chatting with you wonderful people.

My only trip on Amtrak so far was on the Coast Starlight from Seattle to LA and I loved it. Really want to do some more long trips and see more of the USA.

i always wanted to travel the US by train since seeing Silver Streak in the 70s and my ambition is to re-create the journey from that film - well, the actual trip that is, not so much the getting-thrown-off-the-train or crashing into Union Station bits!

Welcome! I thought you might find this article interesting:

As it turns out, while the story line of Silver Streak is about a train from Los Angeles to Chicago, if I recall correctly, it was actually filmed in locations in Canada. To roughly travel the story route one could travel by the Amtrak Southwest Chief from Los Angeles to Chicago. To visit the actual locations where it was filmed will require the use of a car in Canada I suppose, since it was mostly on the CP transcon which has no passenger service east of the Banff area.

I think the only actual genuine location was right at the start in LA. I’m not that worried about seeing the locations just want to re-create the trip itself.
