Hi all...Anyone parked in Lynchburg lately? What is the situation like there, specifically are there enough parking spots at the station (or in walking distance) to meet the typical demand? I'm thinking of possibly driving over to ride the "Lynchburger" up the Northeast Corridor sometime before too long and wondering if I should board at Lynchburg or Charlottesville.

Get there early! Friday and asaturday are the most crowded days. Lot of construction has eliminated some spaces. Free parking at the lot on corner of Kemper and Park Ave.

Based on my past experience trying to park in Lynchburg, I would park in Roanoke or Bedford and take the SmartWay bus to the Lynchburg station (http://www.smartwaybus.com/amtrak.htm). Parking is free at the Roanoke Civic Center or Bedford Welcome Center, and the bus costs $4 each way.

Parking is plentiful at the Charlottesville station, but not free.
