Railroad Museum in Granby, Colorado

An article from Colorado Country Life magazine (a freebie for rural electric co-op members) focuses on a new railroad museum in Granby, Colorado, which is on the California Zephyr route. Christmas on the Rails - Colorado Country Life Magazine

This is a little optimistic though: "A short walk away across the tracks is the current Granby train depot where Amtrak service stops regularly and passengers can walk over to view the displays."

Considering that the Zephyr only stops for about a minute in Granby, I kind of doubt that.

Well, they can walk over to the display and then walk to Denver.

Maybe they could run , but you're right; if they walk they'll miss the train..

There is a hotel, the Littletree Inn, about 3/4 of a mile from the station where they could stay overnight.

Grandby has (I believe) free transit bus service to Winter Park so in theory you could go include Grandby on a trip to those resorts

Definitely not something one would have time for if they were traveling through Granby. But, from Denver, Granby works well for a day trip on the CZ - take the train up to Granby in the morning, then ride it back to Denver in the late afternoon. Assuming the westbound train is on time, leaves a solid 4 hours to check out the museum and grab some lunch in town.

Dunno about now, but some years back a local car rental agency would meet the train with your rental, and allow you to drop the rental off at the station when you left on the train. Very convenient. YMMV now.
