With over 200k points, Select Plus status, and the affiliated paid credit card which rewards 1000 TQP's with 5000 in purchases... I was hoping to cash in for an extended Amtrak trip. Cutbacks in the food services which made rail travel so enjoyable, as well as LD frequency cutbacks leading to supply / demand problems for reward travel... has devalued the entire program. What should I do?

One thing I’m going to do is switch from the paid card to the free card. You wont get the 1,000 TPQs, but you will save $79 per year (the fee) and you will still extend the expiration date and still get the point rebate!
That confirms what I've been thinking. I guess the points not put towards Amtrak could be swapped for some Choice Hotel points; favorable conversion rate under program rules & conditions; but limited to amount.
