San Jose Shooting and Amtrak

Concerning the unfortunate shooting at San Jose, I am wondering if the light rail facility where this shooting took place is located near the Amtrak station or line used by Amtrak. Does this light rail system connect or interface with Amtrak?

The shooting was in the area of 100 W. Younger Avenue at a VTA control center and rail yard, where light rail cars are stored. The building is not open to the public, so the shooter would have needed employee access or to have broken in, said VTA spokesperson Brandi Childress.

The light rail does have a stop at SJC, but is on the far west side past the Amtrak/Caltrain/etc tracks.

VTA light rail has multiple connections with heavy passenger rail. The Mountain View Station is a big intermodal station with lots of connections to buses, VTA light rail, and company shuttles. I've seen Apple, Google, and Microsoft shuttles there. I think Sunnyvale Caltrain also connects to VTA light rail.

It also connects at the Great America (GAC) station in Santa Clara, which has a short walk to the Lick Mill VTA light rail station. They have Amtrak Capitol Corridor and ACE.

I've done the transfer at SJC.
