Got a question; do sleeper passengers on the Silver Star have the option to have food from the cafe car brought to their rooms (as they would if the SS had a diner)?

Yep, but you have to Pay for it( plus tip), it's not included in the Fare.

I think it may depend on your attendant. Every attendant I have had on the Silver Star has offered to get me something from the cafe car (although I prefer to go myself). I do not travel on the Star very often, but do so every now and then (maybe 4 times in the last year).

Four trips on the same train within a year, would make me feel almost like a commuter....

I guess it's all a matter of perspective....

How do you pay for it? Hand some attendant your credit card when they take your order?

How do they handle the frequent 'sold out'? Give the attendant 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice?
