These tree problems are an industry wide problem after many weather storms. Its root cause is the elimination of pole lines along the ROW. Before the elimination of pole lines a big duty of the signal departments would be trimming back vegetation before it got tall. Now trees go to full maturity without needing any triming instead of cutting down small saplings.

If there is a high wind event here there will be a shut down of traffic for several days clearig all the tree tunnel vegetation over the tracks.

Growig up SOU RR had both sides cleared with AC signal line system(s) on one side and communication lines on other. The N&W combined all on one side of tracks using its DC based signal system(s). In bad weather events looking back now realize N&W delayed passenger trains more than SOU.
