After leaving Chicago on Sunday 3/13 On Time, #21/#421 experienced a Service Disruption due to Mechanical Problems, and arrived into its First Stop, Joliet, 6+ Hours Late!

It didn't make up any time while Traveling South towards Texas, and lost time @ every stop through Illinois,Missouri and Arkansas and arrived into Texarkana 7+Hours Late.

It currently is running 7 Hours Late in East Texas and is showing a 7+ Hour Late Arrival into Dallas.

Usually when this happens the Train is turned in Ft Worth and becomes tomorrow's #22/#422 and Passengers going South of Ft Worth are Bustituted to all Stops South of there.

The Good Part of this is that the Nice Scenery in Missouri and Arkansas that is missed in the Dark was visible as the Eagle chugged South.😎

The Bad News is that there's still No Sightseer Lounge on the Eagles and Flex Meals are still being slung in the CCC for High Bucket Fares for the 4 Car Consist ( 1 Sleeper,CCC,2 Coaches)that is Regularly Sold Out!🤬

Update: Amtrak is running #21/#421 to San Antonio although it's running 7+ Hours Late out of Ft Worth and will not arrive until the Wee Hours,.

I would think this is due to the connection with #1 in San Antonio for the #421 Thru Cars even though it will Leave Late for LAX ( 2:45AM is the Scheduled Departure Time).

Tomorrow's ( Tues 3/15) #22/#422, is carded for a 700AM Departure out of San Antonio which almost surely will be Delayed due to lack of Crew Rest.

I wonder if there is a greater holdup in getting a few more Superliners with staff deployed out west. In the eastern trains they have started adding a Coach here and a Coach there over the last week or two.
There seems to be a problem getting enough OBS, especially LSAs for some LD Routes including the Eagle.

And as you know, Amtrak has been ( mis) using Cars, especially Superliners for purposes other than for which they were designed!( LD Trains)🤬
