Thoughts on The Zephyr in January...

The second time I rode the CZ westbound for the daylight scenery we encountered a monster electrical thunderstorm. There was flooded track near Omaha so we took some diversions in Nebraska and arrived late to Denver. They said we would see more scenery because of the late departure.

I slept through the storm but someone told me at breakfast it was the most intense lightning storm they'd ever seen.

I guess some people consider weather can be a type of scenery.

Our CZ arrived in Chicago a record 17 minutes early.

Similarly lucky: my last recent trip on the CZ we arrived in Chicago an hour early!
