Does anyone know if I can transport an old WW2 rifle in my checked baggage? It will be without ammunition. I brought it home from Europe after the war and I'm going on a trip to visit relatives and want to give it to my son.

"After the war"? So you must be over 95 years old!
Not me, but my dad. He dictated the words and I typed it since I'm taking him on this trip. He wants my brother to have it. He hasnt ridden in a train for decades so Im giving him a trip across country for his 100 birthday. Believe it or not he gets around, takes walks everyday.

My father is 97 and he is also a world war II vet. Amazing generation.
IMHO, they earned the title "The Greatest Generation." Every male that age in my family, every one of my male teachers that age, every one of my church leaders , when I was growing up were WWII vets. They were all heroes to me and still are.
