I'm moving to South Bend, Indiana next week (on the Lake Shore Limited of course), already trying to plan a trip on the Business Class Iowa Pacific dome car of the Hoosier State.

I'm Select and am trying to figure out if AGR Upgrade coupons are valid - since I don't think I'll be taking Acela anytime soon - the Hoosier state isn't listed as a restricted train. Anyone have any experience using upgrade coupons?

I don't think you can.

Although it is called the Cardinal, and can be booked thru Amtrak, AFAIK it can not be used since it is operated by Iowa Pacific and not Amtrak. (You could use it on 850/851, but not the other days.)

Dave,

850/851 is the Hoosier State. 50/51 is the Cardinal. The Cardinal is a "restricted" train, I believe; the Hoosier State is not, IIRC.
