A Victorian ticket ledger has been discovered at a railway station by contractors after it fell through a ceiling they were repairing.
The luggage ledger dated back to April 1885, when March Railway Station in Cambridgeshire first opened.

I travelled through that station a couple of days ago on a journey from Peterborough to Norwich. The train manager announced at the previous station (Whittlesey) that the rear carriage would be locked as that station had a short platform. He further explained that the doors would not be unlocked until MARCH.

I thought I was going to end up missing my club's football match which was being played (at Peterborough) the next day
