Visited Hanoi's main railway station this evening having arrived the evening before but were too loaded with bags to photo it. At night it certainly sparkles, during the day it's a little dull and purely functional. It's fairly spacious, has all the facilities required and sited in a busy part of town. That said the whole city is busy.
Lots of minor interesting features that are made interesting not due it's railway functions, but due to the life that has grown up alongside it, varied and at times strange to western eyes.

Here are a few photos of the exterior and interior public areas, again taking photos of the platform area is forbidden so that area is excluded, just as at Saigon. Having realised this is more to do with accessing the platforms without a legitimate reason rather than secrecy I did take a few photos of Saigon platforms when boarding our train north, no one objected to that even though many railway employees saw me do this.
