Both Crescents, 19 & 20, lost about 3 hours at Tuscaloosa (TCL) today (3/2/15). Does anyone have any information? Did NS lose a freight to the ground? Is there an AU Forum member on board?

Spring football, which is a religion in the south, is underway @ U of A, maybe they stopped to watch practice?
Seriously, haven't a clue but if it's both trains could be weather, track work or freight train problems!

Tuscaloosa is frequently a "black hole" for the Crescents losing time in both directions. As I understand it, with one platform, only one train can be in the station at a time, and one of the nearby sidings they have to back into or something like that, especially if there are freight trains around.

NS train hit a sand truck just south of Tuscaloosa. It is at a spot that has frequent grade crossing incidents. The NS needs to rip up the crossing put up baracades there. Many NS and Amtrak crews have been injured at that crossing. It took about 3 hours for the police to investigate, have the remains of the truck and sand removed and for a replacement crew to arrive. (The NS train crew were injured).

Oh, and train 19 got delayed again later at Hattiesburg. The NS had a one car derailment...

As the old saying goes "Late trains get later".
