Will the Diner on the Eagle Return? Ever?

Just as the headline reads:

I was hoping that by some miracle my trip from Maricopa back to Boston on #422 by Dec 15, would have traditional dining returned but nothing yet. Not going to hold my breath about it either but it is rather sad in a way. I can sort of understand keeping the northeastern routes with the flex dining but the Eagle is a western train...

I just don't understand the logic. But I understand that it is all about cost cutting measures. That, or equipment shortages and staffing.

Has anyone heard if the diner or the sightseer lounge might ever return to the Eagle in the near future?

Nobody understands the logic.

Nobody knows if traditional dining will return to the Eagle.

Nobody knows if a Sightseer Lounge will return to the Eagle.

However, always remember in the eyes of the current Amtrak Board and executive management that NEC stands for Nothing Else Counts.
