I am interested of a trip with Amtrak from Miami to SantaFe this summer. Are there any discounts for long distance travel?

Don't know of any other than the standard discounts for seniors, etc., explained here: https://www.amtrak.com/discount-train-fares-for-kids-seniors-military-students-and-more Amtrak does offer other types of discounts and the best way to find them is here: https://www.amtrak.com/deals But your best friend for finding the lowest fares is AmSnag... http://biketrain.net/amsnag/amSnag.php ...because Amtrak fares fluctuate up and down frequently and unpredictably.

[Anybody know what the secret is to posting more than a single clickable link in one post?]

One of the best ways to get the best price for a train ticket is to purchase your ticket as early as possible. As niemi24s stated, AmSnag is the best site to monitor the ticket price. If the ticket price is reduced after you made your purchase, you can call Amtrak and get that lower price.

Ding! Now that I think about your trip, it's going to involve a minimum of three different trains each way. There a thing called a RailPass that might prove beneficial, but I don't know anything about them. Perhaps someone who does will chime in with some advice.

Probably not an issue, but there is no Amtrak train station at Santa Fe, NM. The route is via a short (included) 40 minutes bus ride from Lamy station...
