Bidding up sounds like an enticing idea for the Eastern routes / CONO one nighters... where the specter of flex dining and poor service reduces the appeal to pay high prices. However a 2 night journey in the West is not a risk I would take. Unfortunately there only seem to be high bucket fares...
Do board with as much documentation as possible... check in with the station staff, and do connect with the conductor as soon as you board... with docs in hand. Most importantly be flexible and know if anything doesn't line up as it should... but if you have been promised meals u should be ok...
Carrot shavings removed from the included flex salad... now only a few leaves of lettuce and a cherry tomato. Although the desserts haven't been too bad.
The meal isn't that filling... but for sure makes u appreciate getting off and getting some real food at your destination.

Yes... score down once again... cafe offerings for breakfast and lunch and flex for dinner only... as if flex were any good. On the plus side, those sandwiches look like a bump up in quality and if the greek salad is as good as those served in Moynahan Metropolitan Lounge that would be a saving...
