Amtrakethyst

Name's William, and I'm an Amtrak Buff as my grandmother called me. My grandmother used to work for Amtrak, she retired recently but she told me about Amtrak!

I rode my first Amtrak train in August or September 1990 from Benson, Arizona to Chicago when I was 5.

I'm into passenger rail in general, be it Amtrak, commuter trains, light rail, streetcars, etc although I'm not much on subway trains or monorail. Also prefer at-grade rail. I'm also mostly into railroad crossings, my most favorite part of the railroad system, especially gated crossings, including 4-quadrant gate crossings, although I also like gate-less but signalised crossings (flashing red lights only, no wig wags or other signal wannabes!) I also prefer American railroad crossings and similar crossings to all else although those in Germany and the U.K. aren't too bad, lived in Germany actually!
