I am taking the southwest chief to LA and back. When returning, do we need to get our tickets so that it says we will stop at Naperville iL or can we just tell the sleeping car attendant so they can tell the conductor????

I take a private rail car trip, and enjoy it alot. It is open to whoever wants to buy space (bedrooms) on the trips that are taken with private cars behind Amtrak trains. They are a lot of fun.

I am taking the Empire builder a short distance from Wisconsin dells to Chicago and back, I have a choice of two fares which is silly since i know all the coaches are the same. If i could be assured of one business class seat i would pay the higher fare. Why does the two fares exist??

I check my baggage often with Amtrak so that it is carried in the baggage cars. But can you have a suitcase that say is 31 inches long and wider than what is allowed with carryon??? I have thought of this, since my girlfriend brings too mcuh luggage with us. BillVas

Those cars are in storage so to speak, till the owner uses them when he wants. I saw them when I took a trip on WWW.Americanrail.com to New Orleans at New Years trip.

I found the trip to Horseshoe Curve only about 30 minutes or 45. it is well worth the trip for your first visit. Afterwards, as I have found, you may want to visit again but at times their is a long delay at times for freights to come around the curve. Billvas
