I visited the Civil Rights museum yesterday and saw the segregated schematic of the train station. Was interesting to see that in person today.
I’m on the 20 that left New Orleans yesterday. It’s running 4 hours late due to a freight derailment. North of Lynchburg they announced free Domino’s pizza and refreshments for everyone and apologized again for the delay. I thought that was a nice touch.

Agreed on the car-centricism of the area. I took the EB to Belton and stayed at the Belton Lodge, which I loved. But the walk to the park entrance wasn’t much fun as there’s no sidewalk on the road and a grizzly had recently been spotted on the bike path!
It's too bad that you would let that negative experience with a handful of people 50 years ago prevent you from getting to know one of the great cities of the world. I don't know what happened 50 years ago but I can't imagine such a thing happening today, nor have I ever seen something like that...
