Rode SWC to CHI last week and all of the restrooms in my coach had a can of foaming spray cleaner in them. It was a good thing too because the other coach had no restrooms working even though maintenance looked at them at crew stops.
In the spirit of the Amtrak informational policies, the crew are less informed than the patrons. After all, why tell the people who have to implement the changes?
In the last ten years I have never been on a long distance train with clean restrooms. This includes when initially leaving terminus. Restroom smell permeates the coaches and they are in various states of disrepair. They don't seem to be designed for normal repair so they are ignored.
