If you get a roomette you also have shower facilities, and if you do it and use the Metropolitan lounge in Chicago, they have great shower facilities you can use.
Was there on the 11th waiting for the CZ after coming in on the CL, used the shower, was very nice, my 86 YO Mom was with me and we asked for redcap service and was on the first cart to the train. Had a very good experience.
Rode from Greenville SC to WUS on Sept 9th the BC car was right behind the baggage car and they kept the door open between the cars most of the way and it was very noisy, the car had few riders in it. it should be behind the sleepers and in front of the diner.
Got here today on the CL, friendly greeting, used the shower, waiting until the CZ boards to see how that procedure goes. Will most likely try to get Red Cap service, did that in WUS and was on board quickly.
The last time I traveled First Class was 2002 on the CZ, the SCA had soft drinks, juice, water and coffee for the passengers, it looks like today you get bottled water and that is all. The meals were much better looking than what the current menu looks like. Also they had a signature dessert...
Planes mostly fly from point A to point B unlike trains which go to point A,B,C,D,E,F etc. Trying to assign seats when many people might occupy it on a given route would be a real headache, the Conductor knows better how to arrange incoming passengers.
I am going to be in a Superliner Roomette for 2 out of 3 legs of my trip next month and I will spend more time looking at the scenery than I will looking to see what looks worn on the car. We have no money for Amtrak because we dump our money into entitlement programs that have NEVER actually...
I meant to threaten to give passenger service back to them, see how long it would take them to give Amtrak priority. You gotta play hard ball sometimes.
