The City of Boca Raton added a pretty wide sidewalk on NW 1st Street and NW 2nd Avenue to create a walkable route to Mizner Park. Brightline also runs free electric golf carts from the station to Mizner/Downtown.
This feels backwards to me. Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep the Sprinters on the Regionals and pair one of the new Bi-mode Chargers with a standard Charger on the LDs so that an engine change isn’t needed?
The Brightline sets are designed for boarding 48” above Top of Rail. Now I’m curious what the level boarding height is on the Midwest, CalTrans, and Via Rail sets is.
Are any of NE Regional stations low level platforms? Wondering if we’ll see the first Venture cars with no stairs and no gap...
I’d imagine we’ll see the same low level plug doors with traps that are on the new Midwest venture cars. Since the NEC doesn’t really need the automatic gap filler it makes sense to stick with traps on every door for added flexibility. Unless the low level plug doors won’t fit in a high platform...
