How safe is the ROC station?

Hi, I'm going to be traveling from Rochester (ROC) to Chicago via the LakeShore Limited in early November and continuing on from Chicago to Los Angeles on the Southwest Chief. Since the LakeShore doesn't get to ROC until about 11pm, I just wanted to doublecheck to make sure the station is in a...

    Empire Builder

Yes, that's why I changed to the EB. I was originally going to take the CS to Seattle, but after it was dropped, I switched to the EB to get to Seattle. Thank you for the heads up though. I've been monitoring the CS also.

    Empire Builder

I just spoke to an Amtrak agent about my concerns and she said that the EB was supposed to be operating normally today, but they've extended it to Wednesday. They THINK it'll be operating normally by Wednesday. Geez. I am just not having any luck this trip. First, the CS now this. Worst case is...

    Empire Builder

This is very concerning to me. I am supposed to take a red eye to Chicago tomorrow and board the EB on Wednesday. There hasn't been any status updates on the amtrakdelays site since 2/6. Should I be concerned?

Coast Starlight cancelled, now what? Empire Builder?

Thank you for all the information. It really does look like it will be a piece of cake. i have a feeling I'll have more problems dealing with the 30 degree drop in temperature than with getting to CUS. I did have a couple of other questions. The only other LD train I've been on is the CS so we...

Coast Starlight cancelled, now what? Empire Builder?

Hi, As i mentioned, I was planning a trip to Seattle Feb. 13. The train was canceled and now I'm left trying to figure out what to do. What I would LIKE to do is fly to Chicago (I'm in Los Angeles) and take the Empire Builder but I've never been to Chicago and would have no concept of where...

    SEA station and car rentals

Hi Everyone, I have a trip planned from LAX to SEA on Feb. 13 on the CS. I'm going to be optimistic and think that everything will be cleaned up and ready to go by than. I plan on spending a few days in Seattle/Tacoma and fly out of SeaTac but wanted to rent a car while I was there. I am...

    Amtrak News

What a bummer. I've been eyeing the Amtrak site for the last couple of weeks. I have a trip planned Feb. 13 up to Seattle from LAX and was waiting for a roomette to drop in price from what I paid. Saturday when I checked, they still had roommettes and bedrooms available but when I checked...

    Coast Starlight North, 7-19-07

Great pictures! I was on the same train 4th of July going north from LAX to SEA and received no service whatsoever from the sleeper attendant also. I didn't leave a tip either. We probably had the same attendant!

    Coast Starlight 7/4

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I called Amtrak and spoke to the customer service agent and the agent was SO nice and sympathetic. I've never encountered a customer service agent in any business that nice before. He listened to what I had to say and Amtrak will be issuing me a...

    Coast Starlight 7/4

DUH.. No, I had no clue although now that you mention it, that makes perfect sense. This was my first time ever on the train and I was traveling solo so I never bothered to even touch the top bunk. Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely remember that next time!
