I just got my call from Amtrak cancelling my 5/11 trip Seattle to LA. Argh. Oh well, guess I'll experience the CS some other time...... Bummer

Hi all, Does anybody know how the repair to the line for the Coast Starlight is coming along? On schedule do we think? I'm booked on it on 5/11, Seattle to LAX. Amtrak has already rescheduled me from 5/10 to 5/11 but I'm worried and maybe skeptical that the route will be open by my 5/11 trip...

I recently rode the Cardinal from VA to Chicago and thought it an outstanding trip. Love that train!

I used a phone app on my recent SB Texas Eagle trip. I was regaling a couple with it in the Lounge and we were astounded to see speeds like 90 and even 140 at one point. Figured out later I had the app set to kmph. Haa! Still I found it satisfied my curiosity about how fast we were going...

I live in Rocky Mount, Virginia, Franklin County. The moonshine capital of the world -- both historically and today -- or so we like to claim. Franklin Cty is south of Roanoke VA and the NS "Punkin' Vine" route (NS Winston-Salem District) runs through here.
