    Coach seating question

The seats are comfy and the legroom is great, but I can not sleep in them without something to lean my head against. (There's no adjustable headrest with adjustable side flaps like on many airplane seats, and the seat is not concave enough to offer any support.) The pillows offer no help, and at...

    Bridge over Hudson River Closed

I hopped on #283 a few hours ago and had no idea I'd be treated to this cool detour! :D

I think 1,000 people taking advantage of this is not entirely out of the question.

    2 Millionth AGR Member Promotion

I think that's way too high - I'd say 30%. Honestly, of the people I know who live in the NE and who occasionally or semi-regularly take Amtrak for work or pleasure , not a single one of them is a member of AGR. And that kind of makes sense: If you're not racking up points on the AGR credit...

AGR's website has been this way forever (the security certificate is only valid for WWW.AMTRAKGUESTREWARDS.com and not AMTRAKGUESTREWARDS.COM. Nothing to be worried about, especially since it's a secure (https://) connection. :)

    Amtrak Telephone Survey

I just had a missed call from the same 607 number - I googled the number and of course it led me here. :) I too took the Vermonter back in October. Maybe this is somehow related...

Food Options in RR stations along the CZ Route

My question was to lrdc9_metroplitan_sub -- I believe he/she was confusing the two (the platform stand vs. the in-station shop). I did not see any stand on the platform on my way through Grand Junction last week. After two days of dining car food, I would have loved some fresh fruit!

Food Options in RR stations along the CZ Route

Are you referring to a stand on the platform (mentioned in a post above), or the shop inside the station? When I was there last week, there did not appear to be anything on the platform, just a shop inside the station.

    Best chance at scenery?

With around a 7:45pm arrival into Denver on the eastbound Zephyr, if the train's running late, it can get dark before the train descends through the foothills of the Rockies, which is a neat part of the ride. If the westbound is late, you don't miss as much.

    Lakeshore Limited Review

Thanks for answering my original question. As someone who rarely, if ever, has ID with me (unless required by whatever airline, or train I'm getting on), I was completely unaware of this law!

So, if I'm travelling on the LSL with out proper papers (e.g. my U.S. passport), that means that I'm not a U.S. citizen, don't have a visa to be here, and therefore I'm breaking the law?

Right. As far as I know, the LSL does not cross an international border. But, maybe things have changed since I took it Sunday afternoon. :)

What law are they breaking? Is there one that requires everyone to have proper papers with them at all times? Or when on trains?

Has anyone ridden the Zephyr this summer?

Yep - it's still obvious that there was flooding (or at least as of 3 days ago). Starting about 2 miles east of the Mississippi crossing you start to see fields that still have standing water in them (!).
