    Thanks everyone!

Tomorrow morning by train (ICE) from Nijmegen to Düsseldorf, Germany and then from there to JFK. The real journey starts next Sunday on the Maple Leaf and will ultimately bring us to LA. At least as far as Amtrak is concerned. From LA we'll drive all the way back to Miami and fly back from there...

AGR-points: what to do with them

It's probably my use of the english language, but the last thing on my mind was discrediting Alan in any way. So if I offended anyone: my sincerest apologies! Ruud

    Buffalo NY to Niagara Falls

You have two options: 1. Take a cab from Depew to Buffalo Airport, about 3 miles. From the airport there's a shuttle bus going to Niagara Falls. Bus ticket is about $3. 2. Take the bus from Depew to downtown Buffalo and switch to bus #40 to Niagara Falls. Bus ticket about $2,50 Both buses...

AGR-points: what to do with them

Don't you think that if I had known about the existence of an "AGR area" I wouldn't have dropped the question there? Which brings me to something that has been bothering me for a some time: You're all so very helpful on this forum in showing us newbies the way around Amtrak and how to get...

    Topic moved without notice

I really can't believe that my sincere question about AGR-points was immediately moved from this forum. Makes me feel like some kind of intruder who doesn't abide the rules. Ruud

AGR-points: what to do with them

Seems a bit rude to me as I was asking a simple newbie question and hoping I could someone a favour. Why isn't there a special flat iron steak section to discuss the food on the LD trains?

AGR-points: what to do with them

I know I'm entitled to a lot of AGR-points for our upcoming trip. I even used Alice's US address to collect them and she extensively tried to explain why I should collect them. But to be honest: I couldn't care less. At the same time - reading all The_Traveler's fanatic efforts to get extra...

    Steak Lovers Beware!

Extra, extra sigh to paraphrase Gertrude Stein: "Steak is a stake is a steak is a stake" from the famous poem Baked Emily. Ruud

Gentle Request Regarding Events and Time

I strongly second that! It took me a couple of hours to figure out where The Traveler had been last week because of all those "podunk"(???) station abbrev's. Ruud

    SW Chief Williams-LAX

From what I've heard so far on this forum dinner service will be closed at ultimately 8.30 pm, but the dinner car stays open a lot longer. Ruud

Train got in early, but we waited for dinner before leaving?

That 25 mph crawl has been the one and only reason why we've booked our upcoming trip with Amtrak from New York City all the way to Los Angeles. Ruud
