What about flooding in montana affecting empire builder?

I know that this is mostly up to nature but thought I would just feel some folks out who either live in the montana area or travel EB quite a bit in the spring. I'm trying to plan my now extended trip home to Mississippi from Montana and it's like dodging bullets with all of this flooding. :)...

Just giving an update to those who might be interested. I just called amtrak and as of right now, they have stopped the CONO from Chicago to Memphis until May 20th due to the floods. She said it was originally the 14th but they just updated to the 20th, pending level and track damage. just...

Flooding on route to New Orleans

I just called Amtrak as I am scheduled to leave this sunday via EB (montana) to CHI and the CONO to memphis and they are not running tomorrow for sure and he didn't think they would run wed either. I'll have to give kudos to the CS rep. He was VERY helpful which I wasn't expecting. Just jaded...

    For Coach Passengers

When I traveled home last year I took EB to TENN and I was in a sleeper car. That smoking things wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I may have been fortunate, but I had attendants who were wonderful (and a wonderful gal attendant on city of new orleans too) and I let them know when I got on...

Montana to Tenn - any possibility to escape flooding on EB?

I just wanted to say thank you to those who replied on this thread. I guess Im going to bite the bullet and take a chance and see what happens. Hopefully the flooding won't be an issue when I travel in a couple of weeks. If it is, well then I'll just deal with it as it comes. I lead a rather...

    For Coach Passengers

Someone mentioned that long distance coach travel isn't mentioned much here. I might can help with that soon. Im a couple of weeks I will be traveling from Montana to Tennessee and unless a miracle happens, I will make that trip via coach the whole way. So if I do, I will give a full report...

Montana to Tenn - any possibility to escape flooding on EB?

I don't so much mind a little delay. A couple hours isn't gonna make or break the deal for me as I can work around that. I would be coming home from vacation and will still have about a 3 hours drive ahead of me coming home. The train gets in memphis in the morning time so a slight delay isn't...

Montana to Tenn - any possibility to escape flooding on EB?

I'm still on my trip here in Kalispell, Montana. It's been wonderful by the way! :o ) I am thinking about extending my trip for another couple of weeks so I will have more time with mom. So that means I have to decide if I want to pay the $200 penalty fee that the airline is going to charge me...

ok, thank you! are the lower level seats reserved or is it first come first served? and if it's first come first served, is there any chance that something could happen and the train books solid and I might not get a seat?

Difference between reserved coach and lower level coach?

Hey everyone! I'm looking at the amtrak site right now and am trying to figure out a date to leave for Montana. I am thinking about just taking coach from Memphis to Chicago since it's only 11 hours (hopefully) and it's in the middle of the night. I'll get a room from Chicago to Whitefish...

Empire Builder to Montana - Should I be worried?

I'm getting ready in a couple of weeks to take the Empire Builder from Memphis, TN to Whitefish, MT. I've been reading some of the threads on all the trouble that the EB has been having this past several months. EEEEKK! LOL, should I be worried? I'll probably be traveling around the 15th(ish)...

Better Deal on Roomette on Empire Builder to MT and Upgrade question

Hi there everyone. I guess it's been a year since I've been on here. Haven't traveled since last Christmas. I have a couple of questions that I am hoping the more experienced can help me with. Video Views of Glacier national park via Empire Builder

thanks! I am really glad you folks enjoyed the vids. I am thinking about going back up there in the summer so if I do, I will try to remember to take the camcorders with me so I can get some summertime footage of the park and mountains. I've never been there in the summer so it will be a sight...

Video Views of Glacier national park via Empire Builder

Really, because I stayed in kalispell for a month and we drove up through part of the park, and it was the same part that the train runs through. My mom was born and raised there, lives there now so I am fairly certain she knows whats the park and what isn't. :) The park is kinda weird though...
