There is at least one car blocked off completely. There are people in almost every row (3 feet apart) that is being made available to us. Sad the way the crews are brainwashed.

There must be some disconnect between what the approved protocols are with respect to social distancing and AMTRAK management. I am on the Crescent right now and they have half the seats in the car blocked. Not EVERY OTHER ROW....but the ENTIRE REAR HALF of the car....! I would think seating...

My point wasn't self distancing...it was why I can't sit where I want on The Crescent.

I think my point was more about the way Amtrak conductors block passengers into tightly packed groups when (as they ought to be doing now) they ought to allow passengers to find their own seat where THEY want to sit. I have yet to figure out why seating can't be handled like the airlines do with...

I consider the Cafe car an option. My problem with it is it isn't open at all times. I got on in Gainesvile, GA the other night at 11:01 pm (2 hours late). I rushed to the Cafe car only to be told that it closed at 11:00...! I assume the employee lives in Greenville or Spartanburg or Gastonia...

Even as a coach customer on the Crescent, I have enjoyed the dining car. Are coach passengers now SOL with respect to dining options...?

Qapla...Are you an Amtrak employee...? If so, leave me alone when I choose where I would like to sit. When you come around to check my ticket, mark my seat with your little strip of paper. If I find it necessary to move, I will let you know. If couple gets on and needs my seat, I will move...

Are you telling me that a group of IT geeks can't come up with a program that takes that situation into consideration and make it work...? Computers are a wonderful thing, power hungry personnel are not. When a seat is open, it's free for anyone to sit in. How difficult is that...?

CZ...You still don't understand my discussion topic. I am not asking for 2 seats for the price of one. But if there are seats available, why can I not choose the one that I want...? If someone else decides that they would like to sit next to me, let that be their decision as well. You seem to be...

And the best thing to do would be to have the seating plan on the website and allow passengers to choose their own seats just as the airlines do it.
